Winter Extravaganza
The middle school recess "coaches" provided winter activities for grades K through 4 during the noon recess on Tuesday. Activities included sledding, fort building, snow Pictionary, snow hunt, catapulting, and Fox Fox goose. This Winter Extravaganza of activities was enjoyed by all and helped students to live out our school wide theme of cultivating community.
A recess coach is a leadership position at OCCS. Twelve middle school students are yearly trained in listening and conflict resolution skills. Two coaches per day then interact with lower elementary students during their noon lunch and recess, being available to help "coach" students to solve their problems and conflicts.
